Here's an interesting freelance project, for a very interesting client (*Borat voice* my wife). On November 6, 2026, I had the honor of getting married to the love of my life, Shayla Zamora - and since we aimed to have a lower budget wedding, we took on the brunt of wedding planning ourselves. For me, my primary job was becoming art director (call it my pro-bono period).
Thus, I served as art director, graphic designer and illustrator for the visual direction of my own wedding. With my wife, we co-developed the design language of the ceremony, preferring an bespoke, storybook style with painted textures, detailed line art and ornate typography.
After we decided on on the look, I went to work, personally conceiving, crafting and producing nearly three dozen custom designs for the ceremony. These included invitations, menus, programs, signage, posters, merchandise and the wedding favors - a handmade deck of playing cards, all displaying memories from our relationship (see to the left). Since it was a bilingual wedding (her family is from Cuba and Mexico), many of the designs had to be translated in Spanish.
Soon the big day came, and it was just a dream. This set of work represents the happiest day of my life, and the best client I'll ever have :)
